Abstract
442,634. Resilient engine-mountings. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES., 7, Stadtbachstrasse, Augsburg, Germany. March 28, 1935, No. 9711. Convention date, April 10, 1934. [Class 122 (iii)] [See also Groups XXXII and XXXI] A vibration-damping device for machines, prime movers, and engines, such as vehicle, aeroplane, and airship engines, comprises one or more shock-absorbers interposed between the engine &c. and its bed or support each shock-absorber comprising a number of concentrically arranged slotted sleeve-springs mounted with their axis perpendicular to the direction in which the force is exerted and loaded directly and in a radial direction by the part to be supported. As shown, the sleeve-springs 8 are housed in an annular projection 7 on the frame 6 of a vehicle engine, diametrically-opposite jaws 10, 11, which are recessed to support a ring 12 secured to the vehicle frame, being adapted to bear on the outer sleeve-spring 8 through slots in the projection 7. Undue rotation of the sleeves is prevented by a vane 16 formed on a sleeve 17 mounted on a bolt 15 which secures a cover 14 on the projection 7, the other end of the vane engaging a slot in the projection. The projection may be in the bed-frame and the ring 12 secured to the engine-frame. Where the working stresses are high a solid cylindrical core, which may be connected with the sleeve 17, may be inserted within the inner sleeve-spring.
