[Class 20 (iv)] A floor comprising joists B, joist tiles A supported below each joist, filler blocks D, and concrete F, is arranged with the blocks D supported directly or indirectly by cross-bars C extending between adjacent joists and having at each end a bearing disposed over the adjacent flange of a joist, and the joist tiles A are so formed as to permit of their suspension from the joists by means independent of the filler blocks D. The ends of the cross-bars C are hooked and extended so as to support the joist tiles A. The filler blocks D are either provided with ledges d, as shown in Fig. 2, whereby they are supported on the joist tiles A, or are adapted to be carried directly by the cross-bars C, which may engage beneath the uppermost ledges h provided on the blocks, as shown in Fig. 5, or pass through the cavities g in the blocks. The edges of the blocks transversely of the joists may be provided with ledges e to form spaces f for accommodating the cross-bars C, as shown in Fig. 3, or such edges may be spaced apart and provided with ledges h for supporting tiles H adapted to form the lower face of a concrete rib which is reinforced by rods J passing under, and at right-angles to, the joists B. In a further construction, flat ceiling slabs K are laid upon the joist tiles A, as shown in Fig. 6, being supported, prior to setting of the concrete F, by cross-bearers L.
