(ci. va-ss) The present invention relates to flooring or like aggregates, and has for its object'to provide a ooring of a reduced weight and of an easy mount- According to the invention the flooring consists of a series of concrete units in the form of slabs which are prepared in advance and are laid in the transverse position, at their opposite ends, upon auxiliary concrete units which are prepared' in advance and are mounted in the longitudinal position in such manner that they will-rest upon the lower flanges of metallic beams.
According to another'feature of the invention, the reinforcing members of themainunits forming the slabs extend from the ends of the latter and are bent over the flanges of the metallic beams, or are embedded in the concrete which is lled in on the spot and covers the beams at a point between the longitudinal elements.
The invention further relates, by way of newy manufactured products, to the units forming the slabs and to the said longitudinal units, and has for its other object to provide units vwhich are so arranged as to comprise simple supporting surfaces at their ends, by which they can be assembled and definitely put in place inv a ready manner and at a small expense. The slabs preferably consist of vibrated concrete, and thus their thickness can be reduced, while at the same time their strength is in-` creased. v e
They are provided on their lower side, near the ends, with ribs adapted to make contact with the edges of the longitudinal units, when placed in position, and also at the edges with ribs for` containing the traction bars and for forming joints for filling on the spot, and further, withY intermediate longitudinal and transverse ribs.
The upper side of each .unit slab may remain in the rough state, and may thus receive any slab has been laid and secured in position.
The upper side of the slab may also receiveV its facing during its manufacture at the plant,v while the concrete is under the vibration treatment. j i f1..
In this case, the facing may consist of a magnesia product, granito, mosaic, or the like, which' is placed in the body of the concrete and is ^vi-` brated therein before the setting of the concrete, thus providing a completely finished flooring slab which requires no further addition nor facing. 'l
Herein, the upper surfaces of the concrete which covers the beams, as well as `the transverse joints between the slabs, are given a surface treatsuitable facings, bythe known means, after the Y ment on the spot, thus affording, in combination l with the surface of the slab,- any suitable appear-I ance and design, for instance` a` panelling separated by bands. v
On the other hand, longitudinal or transverse.` grooves may be formed on the upper side of each. slab, or of certain slabs, for instance adjacent the lower ribs, so as to complete the desired visible panelling. A
Each longitudinal unit which rests upon one` of the beams-preferably consists of vvibrated concrete. Its edges are bevelled in order that it mayr t at the bottom upon the slope of the lower flange of the beam, and at the top into the angle between the rib and the lower side of the end part of the slab which it serves to Support.
In this unit are formed, during the moulding process, one or more notches which will give pas.- i'
sage to wood strips adapted to receive the ceiling.
The entire flooring produced according to the invention, due to its construction in vibrated reinforced concreteof greatlstrengtvh, affordsunit parts of reduced thickness, representing a greatly reduced weight,which is only about one-third Y of the weight of the current iiooring. f
It is very simply mounted, and can be rapidly placedin position.v The said flooring,y with or without an upper coating which is formed in one j with the main body, can be obtained ata very` reduced cost, and it also represents a great saving in theconstruction of walls, foundations and framework, in the buildingsin which it is-employed.` .Y

, In the form of construction herein represented, the flooring is formed, in each span situated between two consecutive beams I and la, of a set of unit slabsA (Fig. 1) which are juxtaposed in the direction of the length of the beams. .Each unit A has a suitable length l or l' (Fig. 2).
Each unit slab A rests at 2 (Fig. 1) upon the edges of two longitudinal members 3, and each of the latter rests'at 4 upon the lower flange of one of the beams l or la. The longitudinal spaces between the members 3 and the beams l-ia are filled with concrete 5 in order to assure the preservation of the beams, to increase their momenty of inertia, and to provide an additional support for the ends of the slabs.

The'spacesbetween'the ribs of the slabs A may be filled with ycellulaiconcrete orthe like, in order fto improve the non-conducting and the sound-proof qualities of the flooring. Y
The flooring in conformity -to the invention 03ers enumerous advantages which representa greatreduction in cost, due to the elimination ot'all 4moulding on the spot, as well as -to the , joints 5 and 9 to form the panelling.
Obviously, the invention is not limited to the vformssof construction'herein described and represented, .which are given solely by way of example.
