441,011. Fluid-pressure servo-motors. COCKBURNS, Ltd., and MACNICOLL, D., Clydesdale Engineering Works, Cardonald, Glasgow. July 10, 1934, No. 20166. [Class 135] A servo-motor for operating stop valves has two opposed pistons 1, 2 interconnected by a member 6 formed intermediately with two plane valve seats 9 disposed one on each side of the piston axis and co-operating in with plane slide valve members 10 forming the limbs of a U-shaped pilot valve. The member 6, which is in the form of a tubular piston rod telescopically engages a fixed pressure fluid supply pipe 7. Pressure fluid is admitted alternately to the ends 4, 5 of the cylinder 3 containing the pistons by passages 23<a> ... 26a terminating in ports 23 ... 26. The latter are alternately connected to supply ports 18 in the rod 6 by cavities 27 in the limbs 10 and to the intermediate part 16 of the cylinder 3 by exhaust ports also formed in the limbs 10. A trunnion 13 is formed at the rear of each limb 10 for engagement with the bifurcated upper end of a manually-operated arm 15. The U-shaped valve has slots 12 on its inner faces co-operating with guiding pins 11 on the faces 9. The rod 6 has a central stop valve actuator 19 passing through a cover 21 sliding over the slot 20.
