Abstract

440,422. Colour photography. MURRAY, H. D., and SPENCER, D. A., 118, Fulham Road, South Kensington, London. June 25, 1934, No. 18674. [Class 98 (ii)] Material for producing colour photographs comprises 3 or 4 layers of emulsion, of which the outer are normal photographic emulsions and the intermediate layer (or at least one where there are two) is sensitive to a different portion of the spectrum from that to which the outer two layers are sensitive and contains a colour-forming substance which is of the kind, which reacts with the by-products of development to produce an image, and is so selected as to provide an image in one of the three subtractive colours. The central layers are printed with light to which the outer layers are insensitive and after all the layers have been printed from different colour separation negatives or positions, the central layers are treated to form colouring matter in the image or non-image portions, the outer layer being then coloured by chemical toning, dye toning or in the manner described in Specifications 363,616 and 377,706. Specification 376,794 also is referred to.
