[Class 74 (ii)] In a parallel knitting-machine having a rectilinearly movable carriage, selectors 2 in the form of levers having arms of unequal length and weight can be rocked counterclockwise (in the Figures) about pivots 3, by Jacquard mechanism, acting through cords 4, so that when the carriage is advanced, the selectors actuate the needle sliders 17, as in Fig. 2, the greater weight of the longer arms rocking them clockwise again to the inoperative position, Fig. 7, when they are released. A notch 11 in the selector straddles a pivot 3 supported in notches 13 formed in plates 8 integral with the carriage 10, or the selectors may be pivoted directly on the base 20 of the plates, Fig. 7, either arrangement permitting of easy dismantling. The operative and inoperative positions of the selectors may be reversed. An upper stop 15 is provided for each selector. By providing two sets of selectors, Fig. 6 (not shown), the invention may be applied to a frame having two superposed rows of needles.
