Abstract
357,132. Knitting- machines. RUINNET, Y., 42 bis, Boulevard Gallieni, Argenteuil, Seine, France. June 12, 1930, No. 18084. [Class 74 (ii).] Patterning mechanism for a parallel machine comprises a frame 4 extending parallel to the needle bed 1 and containing a needle actuating member 10 corresponding to each needle 2, electromagnetic means for grouping the members 10 in two or more rows, and means for bringing the rows successively into position to actuate the needles. In one form, Fig. 9, a separate electromagnet 13 is provided for each member 10, while in a modification, Fig. 1, one magnet 13 is provided for actuating all of the members 10. In this second form, a hooked member 9 is interposed between the magnet 13 and each member 10, the member 10 being released and falling when the hooked member 9 is attracted by the magnet. The frame 4 is oscillated to bring the ends 10<1> of the members 10 into register with the needles or needle jacks, and a member 21 is provided for restoring selected members 10 to position for engagement by the hooks 9.
