The cylinder 10, Fig. 1, serves as a tup, and moves on a piston 2 and piston-rod 3 beneath a control head 4, which comprises a piston-like part 5 with inlet ports 6. If the parts 8 become detached, the ports 6 are closed by the movement of the part 5 in the head 4, and the pressure-medium is cut off. In pile-drawing, the upper part of the cylinder 10 strikes against a cross-bar in the framing 1, and the spring 8 are fitted above the part 9. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the piston serves as a tup. The cylinder 20 is attached to the pile by means comprising springs 17, and the anvil 18 is a piston valve with ports automatically closed as described above if the parts 20, 18 move relatively. A similar construction may be used as a pile-drawer.
