Abstract
1,194,657. Boring earth etc.; extracting piles &c. P. SCHMIDT [trading as TRACTO TECH -NIK PAUL SCHMIDT]. '11 Oct., 1968 [15 Nov., 1967], No. 48345/68. Headings E1F and E1H. A device 'for extracting a jammed rock drill, or a foundation or sheet pile, comprises a rod 2 for attachment to the drill or pile, a crosshead 3 attached to the rod, an impact hammer or piston (17 housed in a cylinder '1, and a chamber 10 ,for a 'buffer liquid between the 'piston and the crosshead so that, in use, the impact of the piston is transmitted to .the crosshead through the buffer liquid. The end :11 1 of the piston seals the chamber .10 on entry thereinto. A similar buffer chamber 22 is provided for the return stroke of the (piston. Passage of hydraulic fluid into chamber 19 to advance the piston also causes cylinder ;1 to 'be pushed against springs 5 and to open a gap (between shoulders 20 and 21 on the crosshead and cylinder. This gap filled with buffering liquid is sealed off by the piston on entry into chamber 10. When the hydraulic pressure is removed from chamber 19 the force of spring 5 is transmitted to the crosshead via the liquid in the gap.
