Abstract
<PICT:0439825/III/1> A liquid - supplying device for a moistening appliance or the like comprises a receptacle 3 for liquid 9, a hollow shaft 13 mounted for rotation, means for conveying liquid from the receptacle to the interior of the shaft upon rotation of the latter, and a liquid-applying roll 19 of permeable material, carried by the shaft and to which liquid is transmitted along said shaft. The shaft 13 is shown carrying two scoops 25 which pick up liquid which then passes through openings 29 into the interior of the shaft, wherein it is conveyed, by a wick 31, to the felt applying roll 19. The compression of the felt may be adjusted by screws 21 acting on a disc 17 and a ring 15, the latter acting as a gauge for the work. Liquid may be supplied to the receptacle 3, through a hollow arm 1, from a can 43, a valve in which is opened by its contact with the support 39.
