Abstract
438,805. Photographic diazotype layers. LEUCH, W. P., and HARDING, Ltd., S. C. & P., Denmark Hill, London. May 24, 1934, No. 15563. [Class 98 (ii)] Diazotype papers are produced by coating a paper or cloth with a diazo compound, drying, and dusting over with a coupling component. An alkaline substance may be included with the coupling component. Development is effected by water or a solution of mild alkali such as sodium carbonate, borax, or disodium phosphate. A salt for preventing bleeding may be included in the developer. Moist ammonia gas with or without heat may also be used for development or the paper may be applied to a layer of gelatin containing developing substances. Examples of suitable papers are (1) paper coated with the stannic chloride double salt of 1-ethyl-amino-2-methyl- 4-diazobenzene chloride, aluminium sulphate, tartaric acid, and ammonium chloride and dusted over with a powder of phloroglucinol, sodium benzoate, and starch, and (2) paper coated with diazotized p-amino-diphenylamine sulphate, aluminium sulphate, and ammonium chloride dusted over with a powder of phloroglucinol, disodium phosphate, borax and starch. Specification 427,962 is referred to.
