Abstract
438,184. Coffee-making apparatus. EBNER, O., 189, Schwarzwaldallee, Basle, Switzerland. March 20, 1935, No. 8728. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 129] Extracts of coffee or tea are made by placing the finely ground coffee or tea on a, filter in an open vessel, admitting highly heated water to mix with the powder, closing the vessel and forcing the water through the filter by steam pressure. In the form shown, finely ground coffee or tea is placed on the filter pan 17, over the filter 23 which is then forced against a packing ring in the bottom 10 of the infusion chamber 8. A distributing disc is turned by a handle 25 to admit hot water to the powder. The space between the inner and outer walls of the container is fitted with hot water to keep the temperature high. After the hot water has acted on the powder for a predetermined time, the distributing disc is moved to admit steam from the pipe 33 into the infuser to force the extract through the filter and down the pipe 34 to containers mounted on either sid of the infuser. A float 37 coacts with a valve 39 to admit a predetermined quantity of water.
