437,872. Machines for treating land. ROTARY CULTIVATORS, Ltd., 32, Victoria Street, Westminster, and MUIRSON, K. J., 20, Hertford Street, Park Lane, London. April 13, 1935, No. 11492. [Class 6 (i)] A blade for a rotary cultivator consists of two portions 5, 6 bent at substantially right angles to one another, one portion 5 lying in a plane at right angles to the axis of revolution and the other portion 6 being in the form of a shell forming part of the cylindrical surface of revolution of its cutting-edge 9, which is parallel with the axis of revolution. The blades are bolted to spider arms 3 on a shaft 1, the spiders being slightly displaced angularly relatively to one another so that the blades are arranged spirally around the shaft 1. The intermediate spider arms each carry two blades alternately extending right and left. The leading edges are chamfered internally to form cutting-edges 9, 10, the edge 10 being curved back slightly. The shaft 1 is driven rapidly at a speed which may be varied.
