Abstract

437,300. Stencil-duplicators; inking- apparatus. NORMAN, J. E., Zanetic Works, Hallaton Street, Leicester. April 27, 1934, No. 12814. [Class 100 (ii)] Relates to stencil duplicators of the type comprising a shallow flat tray 7 carrying an inkpad 3 arranged between an upper foraminated plate 4 and a lower plate 5 and consists in having either or both of the plates 4, 5 curved with the objects of ensuring an even distribution of ink, owing to the tendency of the plates to flatten out when printing pressure is applied, and of providing copies free from creases. The plates 4, 5 may each have a handle 8 to facilitate lifting for inspection, and the plate 4 may be hinged to the plate 5 or to the tray. The plate 5 is preferably of rigid material but when resilient a rod may be attached thereto, the ends of the rod engaging in elongated holes in the side walls of the tray to accommodate the vertical movement due to flexibility ; the rod may be of such length that by moving the plates to one side the rod may be released from one of the slots thus enabling the plates to be lifted out of the tray. Lugs may be substituted for the rod, or tongues may be provided to engage the edges of the curved plates at the corners. To prevent ink from overflowing from the pad on to the edges of the plates when pressure is applied, small portions 10 of the material between cuts 9 formed in the edges of the plates may be pressed down.
