Abstract
Phosphatide products utilizable as emulsion-producing material are obtained by triturating phosphatides with solid powdered alkali. According to examples, phosphatide obtained in the extraction of soya oil, both containing oil and oil-free and phosphatide obtained from fish roes are mixed with solid powdered caustic soda to give pulverulent products which give stable emulsions with aqueous liquids. The phosphatide may be freed from oil with solvents such as acetone, acetic ester and alcohol. When the latter solvent which is not saponified or polymerized by alkali, is used, it may be removed subsequent to the mixing of the solution with alkali. The insoluble alcohol-moist product before removal of alcohol, being partly saponified, has an increased emulsifying action, as a soap. The products may be employed for the production of asphalt emulsions.ALSO:Phosphatide products utilizable as emulsion-producing material are obtained by triturating phosphatides with solid powdered alkali. According to examples: phosphatide obtained in the extraction of soya oil, both containing oil and oil-free and phosphatide obtained from fish roes are mixed with solid caustic soda to give pulverulent products, which give stable emulsions with aqueous liquids. The phosphatide may be freed from oil with acetone, acetic ester and similar solvents. When alcohol which is not saponified or polymerized by alkali is used, it may be removed subsequent to the mixing of the solution with alkali, and the insoluble, alcohol-moist product, before removal of alcohol, being partly saponified by the alkali, has an increased emulsifying action, as a soap. The products may be employed for the production of asphalt emulsions.
