Abstract
436,722. Opening - arrangements for cans. RAKOWITZKY, G. H., 31, Starhemberggassc, Vienna. April 12, 1934, Nos. 11027 and 11028. Convention dates, July 10, 1933 and Feb. 15, 1934. [Class 66] [See also Group XXII] The wire 8 by the aid of which an end is removably soldered to the body of a can or, as shown, a part 1 of an end is removably soldered to the remainder 6, so that in either case the can may be opened by pulling out the wire, is encased in a solder sheath 10 Fig. 6, applied in solid form, for instance as a helical winding, which only becomes attached to the wire after this is placed in position and heat applied to secure it to the can. The wire may consist of a number of fine wires appropriately twisted or stranded, as indicated in Fig. 8, which shows a desirable form of relatively wide gap at the bottom of the groove 4 in which the soldered wire lies. The wire may be tinned and coated with a flux prior to the application of the solder covering.
