Abstract
435,628. Valves. AVERY-HARDOLL, Ltd., and FRASER, J., Clerkenwell Green, London. April 14, 1934, Nos. 11271 and 19408. [Class 135] [See also Group XVIII] In an apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquid, described particularly with reference to the re-fuelling of aircraft, the liquid passes from a pump, not shown, to a flow meter 7 by way of a lift valve 26 which opens against the flow of liquid and against the pressure of a spring 27. The valve is actuated by an arm 29 on a rock-shaft 24 controlled by a crank 23 coupled to a rod 22 by means of a pin 23<a> working in a slotted portion of the rod. The rod 22 is coupled to an arm 15 which carries the flow meter indicating mechanism, this arm also being connected to linkage operating the pump motor control switch 31. The lost motion in the valve-operating gear ensures that the motor is started before the opening and cut out after the closing of the valve, so that the pipe on the inlet side of the valve remains always charged at delivery pressure.
