Abstract

435,318. Stand heads. SCHALIE, H. VAN DER, 224, Laan van Poot, The Hague. March 19, 1934, No. 8594. [Class 52 (v)] [See also Group XX] A mounting, for attachment to a stand, to support a camera &c. is provided with gearing whereby the camera &c. can be rotated about three separate axes. In the form shown one of these axis is vertical and the other two are horizontal axis at right-angles to each other. The base 1, to be screwed on to a stand head, is integral with a worm wheel 3 embraced by a casing comprising parts 4, 5 secured together by bolts 6, 7. A worm 10, journalled in the casing and operated by a knob 12, gears with the wheel 3 to enable the casing to be turned about a vertical axis. The upper parts 15, 16 of the members 4, 5 have spherical external surfaces, and internal surfaces which are partly spherical and partly vertical. Within the parts 15, 16 a member 17 is rotatably mounted on the bolt 6 and is formed with grooves 18, 19, one on each side of an upstanding part 20 the upper surface of which is arcuate and toothed. The lower side of the member 17 is also provided with a toothed part 21 lying in a plane at right-angles to that of the part 20. The upper part of the mounting consists of parts 25, 26 connected together at their upper ends by a nipple 27 and having portions 29 engaging the external spherical surfaces of the members 15, 16. The members 25, 26 are also provided with downwardly-extending parts 30, 31 which enter the grooves 18, 19 and are pivotally attached to the member 17 by screws 32, 33. A worm 35 journalled in the members 25, 26 and having a knob 37 gears with the toothed segment 20 and a worm 22, journalled in the casing members 4, 5 and having a knob 24, gears with the segment 21. Rotation of the knob 24 causes the member 17 to turn about the bolt 6, and rotation of the knob 37 causes the upper part 25, 26 to turn on the lower part 15, 16 about the screws 32, 33. The camera &c. is attached to the nipple 27.
