Abstract
435,047. Washing gases. LARSEN, A., R÷rdal, Aalborg, Denmark. March 13, 1934, No. 7951. [Class 55 (ii)] Dust-laden gases are led through loose bodies 2 resting on the inner wall of a stationary drum 1 less than half filled with the bodies which comprise balls, rings, spirals or short pieces of iron, e.g. of T- or angle iron-section ; fixed transverse partitions 6 prevent the gases passing through the free space in the container without coming into contact with the bodies, which are agitated by stirrers 3 mounted on an axle 4 above the level of the bodies, and are kept moist by liquid added at the top and withdrawn by pipes 9. Gases may enter through perforated side walls 10 which restrain the bodies laterally, carry stirrers 11 and are rotated on a shaft 4. Two gas inlets 5 and a single outlet 7 may be provided or vice versa, and the bodies may be held in two separated groups. Cement raw slurry is used to moisten the bodies, which may be warmed by waste kiln gas. The gases are later treated with electrical dust separators, water jets or wetted baffles, water from which is collected and fed to the loose bodies.
