Convention date, April 7, 1934. [Class 46] Water to which reagent has been added is supplied to a settling-vessel 11 through a trough 2, fitted with baffles, a central tube 3, lateral passages 4, 5 and annular chambers 6, 7. The tube 3 and the chambers 6, 7 are open at their lower ends and the chambers 6, 7 taper at their upper ends and are pierced by apertures or slots 9, 10 having a total area less than that of the chambers. The upwardly flowing water is distributed by these apertures. The purified water passes away by an overflow trough 14 and settled sludge is discharged through a valve 13.
