Abstract

434,319. Discharge apparatus. MULLER AKT.-GES., C. H. F., 24, R÷ntgenstrasse, Hamburg, Germany. Dec. 27, 1934, No. 37079. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 39 (i)] A high - voltage tube has an envelope comprising an equipotential part and an insulating part, and the insulating part is so shaped adjacent the joint that it intersects a group of planes having the tube axis as their intersecting line in groups of curves having a substantially linear potential drop per unit length, this drop being smaller than that set up along any intersection of the planes with a surface continuous with the equipotential part. In one construction, an X-ray tube has an equipotential part 7 provided with a window 12 closed by a glass layer and two insulating portions 8. These portions 8 are shaped in the form of a jar so as to have a medium diameter larger than that of the part 7 and are sealed thereto by an inwardly turned edge 14 which is normal to the part 7. A flange 17 facilitates the sealing. The free ends of the part 7 have a glass covering 15.
