Abstract
432,672. Casting-machines. BREITBART, H., 308, Adolf-Hitlerstrasse, Beeck, Duisburg, Germany. Nov. 5, 1934, No. 31753. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1933. [Class 83 (i)] Moulds.-In centrifugal casting the gradually increasing thickness of the cast layer is positively controlled by a barrage. The thickness of the wall of metal inside the rotating mould 1 is regulated by a vertically adjustable wall 3, roller 23, Fig. 3, or trough 13, Fig. 4. The wall 3 or trough 13 may be adjusted by tilting and the former may have recesses in its lower edge to divide the metal into bands or vary the thickness thereof longitudinally. The metal may be fed to the mould before or during rotation by means of a tilting trough 7, Fig. 3, or by a runner 17, Fig. 4, and the trough 13 which has a slot in the bottom. The mould has a lining 2 and both it and the wall 3 may have spaces 5, 6 for cooling medium. The trough 13 may move axially and the roller 23 be driven during casting. When pouring has ceased the barrage may serve to smooth the surface of the metal.
