432,159. Isinglass. CARPENTER, C. F., and MORRISON, CARPENTER, & CO., Ltd., Bedford Park, Croydon. Nov. 13, 1934, No. 32661. [Class 121] [See also Group II] In the production of isinglass finings by dissolving isinglass in water, the material is subjected to a steady agitation as the solution proceeds. The isinglass may be so treated for about 12 hours after standing in acidulated water about 3 hours. The solution is then filtered off. The process may be carried out in a vat 1 provided with a power-driven shaft 3 carrying inclined stirring-blades 4. The solution is then drawn away through a valved outflow 16 to a casing 15 in which it passes through a conical sieve provided with a conical brush. To give the desired intermittent rotation of the brush, it is connected, through a divided shaft 12 provided with fastenings, to the source of power. The divided shaft also enables the height of the brush to be adjusted.
