431,714. Gun turrets. BOULTON & PAUL, Ltd., Riverside Works, NORTH, J. D., Hill House, Eaton, HUGHES, H. A., Westfield, Plumstead Road, and DOE, A., St. Peter's, Earlham Green Lane, all in Norwich. Feb. 6, 1934, No. 3848. [Class 92 (i)] Relates to means for supplying fluid or electric power to gun turrets more particularly for aircraft, and of the kind comprising a hollow cylindrical structure 10 rotatably supported on bearings 14 on a fixed supporting frame 13, the rotary and fixed structures carrying concentric sleeves 21, 12, respectively, which serve for the transmission of the fluid or electric power from one structure to the other. According to the invention, the sleeve 21 secured to the turret serves not only as a pipe for conveying pressure fluid but also constitutes the driving member of an electric distributer 24 comprising slip-rings 26 on one structure co-operating with brushes 28 on the other structure. In the form shown fluid under pressure for operating a training motor carried by the turret is conveyed from a fixed pipe 18 through the rotary pipe 21 which depends from a casing 20 supporting the motor, the latter driving a worm engaging a fixed worm wheel 17. A stuffing-box 23 is provided round the inlet pipe 18. The electric supply is carried from outside the turret to the inside through the brushes and slip-rings by way of leads 31 tied to the central pipe 21.
