Abstract
431,533. Cranks. O'MAHONEY, J., Egmont Row, Kanturk, Co. Cork, Irish Free State. Feb. 20, 1934, No. 5548. [Class 80 (iii)] A resiliently mounted crank for bicycles comprises bars 1, 2, which are slidable in pivoted shoes on the sprocket wheel, and are supported by springs on each side of the bearings. Each bar has an arm carrying a pivoted shoe 18 adapted to slide on the other bar, and the bars are connected by a link 24 and supported by a bracket 30 on the sprocket. In operation the springs 11, 13 are compressed by screwing up a nut 25 on the link 24, the crank being tilted until the bar 1 engages the end 27 of the bracket. The crank is then adapted to be turned in a clockwise direction.
