Abstract
362,583. Lifting jacks. LAKE, A. E., 113, Dunmow Road, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. Oct. 7, 1930, Nos. 29955 and 30066. [Class 78 (iii).] A lever lifting-jack of the single stroke type has the lever acting as a bent lever, the handle pivoted at a distance from the lever pivot and a setting device for the crutch comprising a pedal actuating a pivoted lever engaging a pin on the crutch. The crutch bracket E is connected by 'a parallel motion linkage G<1>, K<1> to the frame A<2>, the link G<1> of triangular shape acting as a bent lever and being mounted on the frame by a pivot H and connected by a bar R to the actuating handle N. A pawl Q on the handle and rack teeth A<3> on the frame hold the load in the raised position. The crutch D slides in the crutch bracket E and has a setting device comprising a pedal W connected by a link W<2> to an arm V, Fig. 3, mounted on the pivot H and engaging a pin D<3> on the crutch projecting through a slot E<1> in the crutch bracket. The bar R may be replaced by a chain &c. connected to the lever G<1> and operating handle above their pivots.
