430,635. Electrolytic sterilization of liquids; galvanic batteries. KATADYN AKT.-GES., Glarus, Switzerland. Oct. 16, 1934, No. 29619. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1933. Addition to 412,762. [Classes 41 and 53] An apparatus for the sterilization of liquids by means of electric current comprises a battery 11 connected to contact bushes 18, 19 adapted to receive plug members or electrodes 27, 28 of an oligodynamically active metal as defined in the parent Specification. The ends of the electrodes are provided with insulating caps 29, 30. Connection of the battery to the bush 19 is made through the casing 10. The cap 15 is secured to the casing by screwing or by a bayonet-joint. A container may be provided with a central space for reception of the casing 10 and side recesses to receive the electrodes. In a modification the casing 10 is dispensed with, the bushes which receive the electrodes being embedded in the insulating composition of the battery. The electrodes may be rods of any desired section.
