429,755. Chimney-tops. STREDWICK, E. N., 2, Park Hill Road, Ewell, Surrey. Nov. 8, 1934, No. 31051/33. [Class 25] A chimney cowl of the kind having lateral outlets controlled by pivotally mounted vanes movable under the action of the wind comprises a polygonal base plate 3 formed with a central opening and held in position on the top of the chimney by means of tongues 6 extending within and bearing against the chimney ; a number of sets of arms 9 upstanding from the base plate, each arm having an outwardly directed extension ending in a downwardly directed stop 12 and an upwardly directed finger 11 ; and a number of vanes 13 each formed with apertures by which it is pivotally suspended from the fingers 11 of one set of arms 9 and at top being bent over to house a metal bar 14 which forms a counterweight normally maintaining the lower edge of the vane away from the base plate.
