Abstract
428,511. Exposure meters and finders on photographic cameras. BILLING, N. P., 6, Lower Regent Street, London. Nov. 3, 1933, No. 20965/34. Divided out of 428,456. [Class 98 (i)] An exposure meter is incorporated in part of the lens system constituting a view finder for a camera, which is constructed for use either as a direct vision or a reflex finder, and may be combined with a range finder. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the finder consists of a front lens 17, rear lenses 18, 19 and a movable reflector 23, which may be used in the position shown as the reflector of a reflex finder, or moved to cover the lens 19, the lenses 17 and 18 then forming the finder. In this position a strip 27 of graded density housed in a recess 24 in the wall of the camera may be moved across the aperture 15 in front of the lens 18 to act as an exposure meter. In a modification, Fig. 6, the mirror 30, corresponding to the reflector 23, but of half the height, is silvered on both sides and forms the fixed mirror of a range finder. The second mirror 31 of the range finder is pivoted at 32 behind the aperture 43 and bears an arm 33 contacting with a lever 34 pivoted at 35 and operated by a pin 37 from the focusing ring of the lens system of the camera. The arrangements may be built into a compartment at the base of the camera body, which may be of the form described in Specification 423,035.
