407,888. Cameras. ZEISS IKON AKT.- GES., and NOWICKI, A. M., 72, Schandauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Sept. 29, 1933, No. 26855. [Class 98 (i).] In a photographic camera in which the objective is focused by movement of the front end thereof, and having a base telemeter, the optical means such as mirrors or prisms serving for deflecting the measuring rays of the telemeter are controlled by the focusing movement of the front lens. As shown, inverted, in Fig. 1, the telemeter 1 s carried by a plate 6 rotatably mounted upon the shutter housing 2 whereby the telemeter may be properly disposed for upright or horizontal views. The movable mirror 17 of the telemeter is controlled by a lever actuated by a front or rear flange on the focusing mount 4 of the front lens. The telemeter is furnished with a magnifying eyepiece 11 and is arrested in vertical position by a pin 9 on the shutter casing engaging the end of an arcuate slot 8 in the plate 6. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the telemeter 1 is fixed to the casing 2 and a prism is rotatably mounted in a casing 13 behind the aperture 10 so that the viewing opening 15 may be adjusted according to the camera position. A spring loaded lever 16, carrying the movable mirror 18, is pivoted at 17 and is furnished with an extension bearing against the rear edge of the front lens mount 4.
