Abstract

The benzene-soluble, alcohol-insoluble product of the complete or partial polymerization of 2 chloro 1 : 3 butadiene is incorporated with a rubber mix together with additional sulphur, the mixture being then vulcanized. The total sulphur approaches or equals that used for the production of hard rubber. The product is flexible and oil-resistant and suitable for hose, gaskets, flexible containers, engine suspension blocks and the like. In an example, a mixture of pale cr<\>zepe rubber 100; product of example LXV of Specification 387,363, 100; sulphur 30; dark rubber substitute 5; diphenylguanidine 2; magnesium oxide 12; zinc oxide 10 is vulcanized at 150-155 DEG C. for two hours.
