Abstract

428,032. Delivering paper bags &c. from machines. FRENCH, G. W., BEASLEY, H. H., and BEASLEY, FRENCH, & CO., Ltd., Winterstoke Road, Ashton Gate, Bristol. Jan. 15, 1935, No. 1355. [Class 100 (i)] Paper bags or other flat flexible sheetmaterial articles are fed to stacking- position by an endless conveyer travelling at a slower speed than that of the delivery mechanism and arranged to maintain or form a longitudinal bend in the articles, &c., and to co-operate with one or more rotary or travelling members above the conveyer and moving synchronously therewith substantially above the centre line to assist in the formation of the bend and to slow down the speed of the articles &c. The articles &c., are delivered from a machine by a series of tapes 2 moving at high speed and arranged so that the centre tape bends the article longitudinally to prevent buckling. The articles are deposited on a belt 3 moving at a slower speed and distorted to form a wide trough, preferably by means of a pair of pulleys 4 at each end of the belt, the axes of the pulleys of each pair being inclined to one another. The articles may be fed from the belt 3 to a transversely moving belt 6 or to an automatically-lowered table, a stop 5 being provided to arrest the articles at the correct position. A disc or pulley 7 is mounted above the centre line of the belt 3 to co-operate in slowing down the speed of the articles, the disc being positively or frictionally driven. A bar 8 projects from the stop 5 over the belt to assist in holding the articles on the belt. The bar 8 can be replaced or supplemented by a second disc 7, or tapes can co-operate with the belt 3.
