Abstract

426,074. Posts. PFISTERHAMMER, J., 3, Johann von Werthstrasse, Munich, Germany. Dec. 15, 1933, No. 35407. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1932. [Class 20 (i)] A built-up tubular steel post comprises a number of sheet-metal sections a, a<1>, a<2>, which are of elliptical or oval cross-section, taper continuously from end to end, and are jointed together by uniting the wider end of one section to the narrower end of the next lower section. The sections are readily assembled and dismantled on the site, and in the construction shown are interconnected by slipping the lower end of one section over the upper end of the section below. The sections may be coated inside and outside with zinc, lead, copper, enamel, glass or the like, and the coating may be roughened by making impressions or indentations therein. The irregular surface thus formed may be made smooth before assembly by painting with a soft and hardening mass such as water glass, varnish, or a fine mortar. The uppermost section may be partly or completely filled with a light mass for receiving the connecting screws of insulator supports and the like. The lowermost section a may have an inner and outer concrete covering g having an annular groove h near the top for the attachment of the section a<1>. The rest of the groove is then filled with a material such as tar or asphalt. Specification 4828/84, [Class 36], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a construction in which the sections are provided with longitudinal grooves for strengthening purposes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
