Abstract

In a process of veneering or glueing, a paste consisting of a mixture of neutral salves together with a glue hardening agent is applied to the additions (of metal of wood), before the operation of glueing. This is stated to avoid penetration of the pores of the veneer by the glue or the formation of metallic salts in the case of metal. A suitable composition comprises neutral soap, wool fat and petroleum jelly admixed with solutions of formaldehyde, potassium aluminium sulphate or hexamethylenetetramine.
