Abstract
425,066. Body armour. DWORACZEK, R., 13, Schikanedergasse, Vienna. Dec. 9, 1933, No. 34705. Convention date, March 18. [Class 141] Flexible armour which may be applied to wearing-apparel, helmets, shields, aircraft, &c. has one or more layers of metallic scales or small overlapping plates which are covered at least on the outside of the armour with a layer of leather impregnated with indiarubber. As shown in Fig. 1, small metallic plates P are arranged between layers o, u of leather impregnated with indiarubber. A layer z of wadding, horsehair, or the like may be interposed between the layer u and a lining k which may have leaf springs incorporated therein. The lining and layer z prevent the percussion effect of a projectile being transmitted to the human body when worn, for example, as a waistcoat. The metallic plates are shown in Fig. 4 in plan, front elevation, side elevation, and cross-section. A central depression 1 produces a slightly inclined position in the plates as they are mounted, and chamfered edges P<a> allow of overlap without undue bulkiness. A hole 2 is provided for a rivet 3.
