[Class 38 (ii)] A condenser consists of a plurality of electrodes comprising metallic coatings or deposits M upon insulating carrier bodies S of ceramic material of low temperature coefficient of expansion. In the example shown the electrodes' are supported by a central rod A through or near their centres of gravity and distance pieces Z are provided of a material having substantially twice the coefficient of expansion under heat, to accommodate for lateral expansion of the electrodes. The electrodes may be supported by a yoke-like structure in place of the central rod, the pressure being applied substantially centrally. In modifications the plates may be flat, and supported on a central ceramic rod, or may be formed with integral bosses in lieu of distance pieces. Connection to the plates is made by soldering &c. to an edge.
