Abstract

423,294. Tobacco pipes. LAVIETES, D. P., 198, Terrace Place, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. Aug. 22, 1934, No. 24196. [Class 130] In a tobacco pipe the bowl stem 11 and bit 12 are connected by a tubular union 17 which engages frictionally the wells 15, 16 of the stem and bit and is provided with a collar 18 constituting a distance piece between the latter. A tubular metal plug 19 is removably disposed within the bowl end of the union 17 and is provided with tubular extensions 20, 21, the extension 20 projecting into the passage of that part of the union located in the well 16 and the extension 21 being formed with a thickened end 21<a> and projecting into the well 15. An air inlet 22 is provided in the bowl stem adjacent the relatively thin part of the extension 21. In a modification the bowl stem and union are in screw-threaded engagement.
