Abstract

370,737. Tobacco pipes. LLOYD, W. and LLOYD, W. F., 39, Quebec Street, Brighton. June 15, 1931, No. 17366. [Class 130.] For facilitating cleaning, the bowl is provided with a plug 7 shaped to fit over a member 4 removably fitted in a bore in the stem and mouthpiece, an aperture 10 in the plug communicating with a channel 9 formed around the member 4. A further channel 15 and a reduced portion 13 are also formed in the member 4 and communicate by grooves 19 forming smoke passages. The tapered end 16 of the member 4 fits into the mouthpiece and is formed with flats 20, which provide smoke passages and also serve to scrape the mouthpiece bore when the member 4 is rotated therein. The stem bore is cleaned by drawing therethrough a piece of rag or cotton wool attached to a slit 21 in the member 4. The plug 7 may be of clay, and the member 4 of ebonite or metal.
