422,292. Liquid - break switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and COATES, W. A., Walford Lodge, Dunham Road, Bowdon, Cheshire. Oct. 4, 1933, No. 27324. Addition to 369,235. [Class 38 (v)] The cross - jet, explosion pot of the parent Specification is modified by providing the insulating wall 8, through the longitudinal passage 11 in which the movable contact 3 is adapted to travel on opening, with a single lateral channel 18 which contains at its outlet end at least one arc splitter arranged transversely to the arc. The splitter may be of metal but is preferably of insulation. In carrying out the invention, the plates 16 are as in the parent Specification, but plates 15 are perforated similarly to the right-hand portion of the slots 18 of Fig. 3 of the parent Specification.
