Abstract

415,522. Oil - break switches. JUHLIN, G. A., Redscar, Moss Lane, Timperley, COATES, W. A., Walford Lodge, Dunham Road, Bowdon, both in Cheshire, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. April 10, 1933, No 10727. [Class 38 (v).] In an oil-break switch of the explosion pot type, the fixed contact 15 is provided with a hollow lead-in conductor 1, through which liquid under pressure is injected into the explosion pot 7 during the opening of the circuits. In the arrangement shown, the lead-in conductor is surrounded by a condenser bushing 2 enclosed in a casing 5 to which oil under pressure is admitted through a pipe 17 under the control of a valve which opens when the switch opens. The oil passes through a hole 18 into the lower part of the hollow conductor 1 and thence into the explosion pot 7.
