[Class 106 (ii)] The thickness of sheet material is measured by passing the material between independently operable narrow feeler discs and feeding rollers below the same, means adjacent the discs being moved according to the movement of the discs and caused to mark the thickness on the material. The feeler wheel 1 is rotatably mounted on a pin 2a on a bar 2 above a feed roller 3 protruding through a table 4 supporting a sheet 5 of leather &c. The arm 2 is connected at one end to a guide rod 6 slidable in a crossbar of the frame under tension of a spring 8 while the other end is pivoted on a shaft 9. A marking disc 10 attached to a spindle 10a is mounted adjacent the wheel 1 in the lower end of a vertical rod 11 pivotally mounted on a pin 12 fixed to a rocker bar 13 also pivoted on the shaft 9. The rod 11 slides through a frame crossbar and between this and the pin 12 carries a pin 15 on which is pivoted a quadrant lever 16, 16<a>, the upper arm of which is connected by a link 17 to a stud 18 fixed in an extension 2b of the arm 2 above the shaft 9. The quadrant meshes with a pinion 21 connected to the wheel 10 through yielding coupling members 19, 20. A locating disc 22 is secured to the spindle 10<a> and has near the circumference a ring of pegs 22<a> arranged to be engaged by a justifying cone centre attached to a rod yieldingly and adjustably supported at the ends from brackets secured to the bar 2. Pivoted on a pin 27 secured to a lug 2d on the bar 2 is a lever 28, 29 of which the upper face of the end of the arm 27 engages a stud 30 adjustably secured in an extension 13<a> of the rocker bar 13 while the lower face engages a spring 31 fixed to the bar 2. The shorter arm 28 carries a roller 33 adapted to engage a roller 34 on the disc 35 fixed to the shaft 9. An inking pad 36 is carried by a pivoted spring arm 37. In use the roller 1 drops according to the thickness of leather and the movement of the arm 2 moves down, pushing over rod 17 to turn the quadrant and wheel 10 to position corresponding type. When the shaft 9 rotates, the lever 29 is moved down against the spring 31 and the arm 13 with wheel 10 follows it to make an impression on the leather of the thickness measured.
