Abstract
422,209. Clips. WALKER, Ltd., T., WALKER, G. T., and WOOD, H. H., Birmingham Buckle Works, St. Paul's Square, Birmingham. July 12, 1933, No. 19710. [Class 44] [See also Group VII] The lever 5 of a lever buckle is hinged upon the top bar of a rectangular wire or other frame 1, and comprises a front plate, and a gripping part 7 whose edge is cut at intervals to form a series of independent tongues. Certain of these tongues 9 have straight edges, and, when the lever is fastened, lie in a common vertical plane, to grip the webbing 4 immediately over the top edge of a U-shaped back plate 2, to which the fixed end 3 of the webbing, is secured. One or more other tongues 8, are bent rearwardly through a suitable angle, out of the plane of the tongues 9, and have their ends bent or rolled forwardly to form rounded corners or edges 11. As the lever 5 is closed, the corners 11 engage the webbing, and the tongues 8 are then forced over a dead centre to retain the lever in a closed position.
