Abstract

422,144. Strainers. HARTLEY, E., 3, Dartmouth Avenue, Newcastle-under-Lyme. Nov. 14, 1933, No. 31690. [Class 46] A strainer is fitted in the outlet dip pipe of a settling or septic tank, provision being made so that, when the strainer is removed, its lower end is closed and the retained solid matter is removed with it. As shown, a cylindrical strainer a, attached to a cover e and provided with a collar g at the lower end, is arranged in a dip pipe b. When it is desired to remove the strainer a plunger i is raised so that a plug k on its lower end closes the bottom of the strainer and lifts the strainer with the solid matter therein for removal through an inspection cover n. The liquid passes through a large hole or holes s in the upper part of the strainer if the lower part of the strainer becomes clogged.
