Abstract
422,125. Discharge lamps. OUGHTON, W. E., HYMAN, L., and HYMAN, B. E., 11, Portland Crescent, Leeds. July 3, 1933, No. 18766. [Class 39 (i)] In mountings or sockets for the caps or end terminals of luminous discharge tubes applied to the facia or panel 4 of an advertising or other sign, the insulated supply cable 5 is passed through a hole in the facia, through a central aperture in a cup-shaped resilient insulating-member 3, and through an incombustible insulating disc or washer 6 which fits tightly on the forward end of the cable insulation, the bared end of the cable being received in an axial hole in a metal terminal disc 7 where it is secured by a grub-screw 8. An insulating sheath 1, which may be flared, as shown, or cylindrical, is secured within the resilient cup 3 by forcing it into position so that it is gripped by the cup. A helical contact spring 8<x> or spring clips may be secured on the face of the metal disc 7 to make contact with the cap 2<x> of the discharge tube 2 when the latter is plugged into position and held by spring clips or crutches on the facia 4, or on the members constituting the sign 9. In a modification a cylindrical insulating- sheath is mounted on a boss on a resilient disc located between the end of the sheath and the facia.
