Abstract
422,016. Sharpening lawn - mowers. GARRIS, C. R., 5241, 12th Avenue, Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. Jan. 9, 1934, No. 849. Convention date, May 13, 1933. [Class 60] The revolving blades 3 of a lawn-mower are sharpened by means of a device adapted to be hooked over the crossbar 10 of the mower and to rest against the driven blades. The device comprises a sheet metal, or other material, backing plate 5, of length equal to that of the blades, curved along its edges to form hooks 6 and carrying a felt pad 8 over which is placed a strip of flexible abrasive sheet, for example, emery cloth, &c., 9, the pad and the sheet being held by bending over the edges 7 of the plate 5. In various modifications, the felt pad may be omitted, the plate 5 may have a hook member along one side only, and the edge near the hook member may be crimped to secure the abrasive sheet. A new sheet 9 may be fitted by lifting the edges 7.
