[Class 37] A portable arrange ment for measuring high resistances, such as grid leaks and insulation resistances comprises a thermionic valve A, ar ammeter E in the anode circuit, adjust able resistances C, F and batteries D, G connected as shown, and a resistance H with tappings J-M connected in the grid circuit, the resistance R to be measured being connected to a terminal N connected to the battery D and to one of the tappings JM. The ammeter is calibrated to read the value of the resistance R directly when the resistance is connected to the terminal J, or with the aid of a multiply. ing factor, which may be 10, 100 or 1000, when the resistance R is connected to one of the terminals K, L. M. Still higher values of resistance may be measured by connecting a battery in series with the resistance R. According to the Provisional Specification, the apparatus may be used as a high resistance alternating voltmeter by connecting condensers between the anode and filament and between the voltmeter input terminal and the grid, the voltage to be measured being applied between the filament and the grid.
