Abstract

<PICT:0421733/III/1> <PICT:0421733/III/2> Fatty acid vapours produced by passing fatty acid stock in a restricted stream through a heating zone and expanding the products with reduction of pressure into a body of fatty acid as described in the parent Specification, are separated from entrained matter by passage through and in intimate and direct contact with a body of pure fatty acid while continuously changing the direction of movement of the vapours. The vapours are passed into stock supported on an intermediary tray of a column 5 and pass up through a plate 4 filled with fatty acid and also with hollow rings 1 provided with spirals 3, Fig. 3, by which the direction of flow of the vapours is constantly changed.
