Abstract

420,402. Electrolysis. CLOSE, R. E., 13, Marlborough Road, Small Heath, Birming- ham. Sept. 29, 1933, No. 26803. [Class 41] Electrolytes for the electrodeposition of metals are prepared or regenerated by auxiliary electrolysis using a soluble anode of the required metal and a perforated cylindrical cathode of stainless steel contained within a porous cylindrical cell. In the cathode assembly shown, the porous cell b is provided with a perforated porcelain lid c which is inserted by engagement of notches c<1> with lugs b<1> on the cell and secured by rotation. The cathode a, which is spaced from the cell b, is provided with an insulated contact bar d passing through a cross-bar a<1> and the lid c. The bar d is adjustably supported in a clamp e. The porous cell b is filled by immersion and then raised to a position with the top of the cathode at solution level.
