420,354. Photographic step-and-repeat contact printing-apparatus. COOPER, E. E., and TROEDEL, A. T., 86, Bay Street, Melbourne, Australia. April 16, 1934, No. 11478. [Class 98 (ii)] The machine comprises a bed plate having transverse rails mounted thereon, a carriage moving on the rails and provided at each side with a vertical holed plate, a negative carrier mounted at each end of a set of shafts passing through the plates, and an electric lamp over each negative carrier. Means are provided for moving the carriage transversely and the shafts longitudinally in the machine, and for ensuring that the movements are at right-angles. In the form shown, the carriage consists of vertical plates 24, braced by rods 26 and moves on rails 21. Shafts 27 pass through the plates 24 and support the negative carriers, eccentrically mounted rollers 28 being carried by the plates 24 to support the shafts and permit of their adjustment. Tables, movable in a vertical plane, are provided beneath the negative carriers. A bar 53 is secured to one of the shafts 27 and moves over a scale 54, and a control tower 47 is also mounted on the shafts 27, and carries means for moving the shafts longitudinally on the machine and clamping them. The transverse movements of the carriage are produced by a handwheel 66 driving wheels 25 on the rails 21, fine adjustment means on a scale 65 being provided. The carriage has aligning bars 23 which may be adjusted by plates 82 to ensure the accurate travel of the carriage.
