Abstract

Absorbent pads consisting of textile material coated on both sides with artificial sponge are made by immersing parallel spaced strips of textile material in a liquid such as rubber or viscose suitable for the production of artificial sponge, manufacturing the sponge and severing the sponge block at places between the textile strips. The sponge viscose may be cut with a knife or saw, but in the case of sponge rubber the block is compressed perpendicularly to the textile strips and the layers are cut by a reciprocating plane.
